A Thank You Letter to my Dad

Even though my dad may never read this letter I just thought that I would type up for the world to see/ brag on what an awesome dad I have been blessed with.

I know that we haven't always walked down the easiest road, but hey we're only lost if we end up in Kentucky, right?  (Seriously every time we get lost somehow we end up in Kentucky!)

Thank you for showing me how to have relationship with Jesus and encouraging to form read the bible for myself so that I know beyond a doubt what it really says.

Thank you dad, for teaching me how to handle the situation for when I do find myself somewhere that might not be the intended destination.

Thank you for not being afraid to step up and take on the role of both parents!  How many dads do you know that will take their daughters dress shopping by themselves?

Thank you for always having my back 100% even though whatever I'm doing might scare you just as much as it scares me.  And thank you for not showing how scared you really are because you know that wouldn't help me any.

Thank you for never sheltering from much of anything.   I learned how to handle a wide variety of situations because we were able to talk through a situation and find the best way to handle it.  Thank you for always answering my question about a wide-variety of things with your honest opinion.

Thank you for encouraging me to form my own opinions about everything; even if, they were different from yours. Thank you for being willing to sit down and talk through the opinions that I had formed,  with me.  Because of this I am able to research what I hear before I make an choice about how I feel.

Thank you for raising me on a farm where I learn what a work ethic is.  Even if I wasn't going into Ag, there are plenty of great qualities that are embedded into who I am that will help me throughout the rest of my life.

Thank you for going everywhere I go.  You where literally always there; 4-H, FFA, softball, dance, church, school functions.  You have driven 8 hours just to get to spend 4 hours with me.  Even now when I live 2 hours away you come and see me at least every other week.

Thank you for making me reel my own fish in.  If I never fail will I ever learn?  I know that it was tough when you had to, but those were some of the most pivotal moments in my life.

Thank you for setting a great example for me.  Not just an example of how I should live my life, but also what qualities I should look for in a husband.

Thank you for not always being perfect.  We have had to deal with plenty of challenges and I have seen you break.  Even though you are my super hero, you are still human and ALL humans make mistakes.  Mistakes are something that we fix and move on from.  (Even though they may live on forever in stories that are told at family gatherings.)

Thank you for being my daddy.

Love,
Katie
